Youth Crimes Detective

The Shelby Township Police Detective Bureau has assigned one full-time Detective to investigate crimes involving youth. Our Youth Detective has special knowledge and training in working with child victims and witnesses as well as extensive coursework in human trafficking identification and prevention and handling sex crimes involving children. Detective Jim, as he is lovingly known around the community, is just as comfortable handling major crimes as he is dealing with less major infractions in the schools. He can often be found in the high schools facilitating discussions with classes about law and criminal procedure or reading to the littles at local preschool programs.
