Citizen's Police Academy
Shelby Twp. Police Department typically presents the Citizens Police Academy in the spring and fall. The Citizens Police Academy is an eight-week course designed to provide citizens with a first-hand look at the operations and inner workings of the police department. Participants are instructed in basic police procedures and participate in some of the same training officers receive. Topics include: Accident investigations, detective bureau operations, emergency response, use of force scenarios, K-9 operations, narcotics investigations, OWI enforcement, evidence collection, and more. This program also provides the opportunity to ask questions about police services and learn current policing trends.
The 2025 Fall Academy starts September 18. We will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30-9:30 P.M. Applications are due August 29.
