Alarm, Keyholder & Camera Registration
Residential/Business Alarm Registration (required by ordinance):
Pursuant to ordinance of the Charter Township of Shelby, any person, firm or corporation that owns, leases or occupies a premises in which an alarm system is installed, used or maintained must register that alarm system with the Shelby Township Police Department using forms provided by the department. Owners are also required to inform the department of any changes to the information listed on those forms.
Please register your alarm system. If you experience a change in your alarm company or contact persons, please submit those updates using the same registration form.

False Alarms:
Shelby Township has a false alarm ordinance. Please ensure that your alarm system is in good working order to prevent false alarms. Substantial penalties may be imposed for repeated false alarms. All outstanding fees not paid by the end of September are forwarded to the Treasurer’s Office for inclusion with the winter tax bill. The alarm ordinance may be viewed HERE.
For your convenience, the Shelby Township Police Department now accepts credit card payments for false alarm fees using Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover and debit cards. A service fee is charged for each transaction.

Business Keyholder Registration:
If you own a business in Shelby Township, we request that you complete the Business Keyholder Registration. This registration is not mandatory, but it assists our first responders who may be called to your business in an emergency by helping them contact authorized keyholders more quickly. Please be sure to update the registry as needed using the same form to keep your information current.
Business and Residential Camera Registration:
This Business and Residential Camera Registration is not mandatory and does not give us authorization or the ability to access your camera system. It simply provides our investigators and patrol officers with information about nearby surveillance that may assist them in solving crimes. We appreciate every homeowner and business owner who takes the initiative to install a security and surveillance system on their premises, as they are our partners in keeping Shelby Township a safe and secure place to live and work. We ask that you take that partnership one step further by providing your camera information to us for easy reference.
